For the one-hundredth post I meant to prepare something special. But sometimes special is not different from simple. So rather than hold up this post too long, here’s a shot taken last Monday as the sun was setting. R and I took the opportunity of a fine evening to go for a leisurely stroll around Guildford town centre, by the castle. The grounds were closed, of course (though the official council website does say ‘open until dusk’, which really only happens after sunset – perhaps the council uses a different variant of English than the rest of the country). So after walking around the grounds we headed up to Pewley Down. This shot was taken on our way down. The building in silhouette is Guildford cathedral. It’s not every day you get such a light show, and I was glad I was outside to experience it.
The image was taken handheld, and exposed for the sky. Processing was minimal, involving only some selective darkening of the foreground to hide a few distracting city lights.
As always, you can click on the image for a larger version; comments welcome.
