For today’s throwback post I’m sharing the final photo from a series taken in winter this year. You can see the start of a stairway at the bottom of the frame, in fact close to the valley floor. Further up it’s all overgrown and barely distinguishable. From what I can tell, this was part of the Victoria Lines fortifications. The ruins of a bridge can be seen (not in this photo, but you can see it in a panorama I shared some time ago) where the stairway meets the valley floor. On the opposite side of the valley, another stairway continues all the way to the rim of what is now a quarry.
